Manuel de Freitas (Portugal)

Born in 1972 (Vale de Santarém) and has lived in Lisbon since 1990. Poet, essayist, publisher and translator, he made his debut as a poet in 2000 with Todos Contentes e Eu Também (Campo das Letras). Since then, he has published an extensive body of poetic work, his most recent title being 769118 (Averno, 2020). He organized several anthologies, including Poetas sem Qualidades (Averno, 2003) and A Perspectiva da Morte (Assírio & Alvim, 2009). In 2002, he co-founded the publishing house Averno with Inês Dias, with whom he co-directs the magazines Cão Celeste and Telhados de Vidro. He has translated into Portuguese works by François Rabelais, Lautréamont, Marcel Proust, Georges Bataille, E. M. Cioran, Mariano Peyrou, and Pablo Fidalgo Lareo.
