Clara Riso Biographical Note
Clara Riso graduated in Modern Languages and Literature – Portuguese Studies at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, having subsequently taken a Master’s Degree in Comparative Literature at the same Faculty, with a thesis entitled Serial books: memory and montage – the cases of Carlos de Oliveira and Herberto Helder. She also undertook postgraduate studies in Contemporary Portuguese Culture at the Instituto Camões/Universidade Aberta. She has a Master’s Degree in Portuguese as a Second Language/Foreign Language from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, where she presented a thesis entitled Transnational Artistic Mobility. She has worked in the areas of Production and Internationalisation with artistic collectives and coordinated the two editions of Grandes Lições, publications that were produced under the scope of the Gulbenkian Programme of Contemporary Culture – Next Future, as well as the publication of Melankólia ezerrel (Budapest, 2013), an anthology of contemporary Portuguese dramatic literature. She was a researcher at the Centre for Theatre Studies and the Centre for Comparative Studies at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. From 2004 to 2014, she worked as a lecturer for the Instituto Camões, having been responsible for running the Portuguese Language Centre of that institute in Budapest (Hungary) and Belgrade (Serbia), also being jointly responsible for organising the institute’s external cultural activities. She has been the Director of Casa Fernando Pessoa since July 2014.
