Richard Zenith

He is a writer, translator, researcher, and one of the leading experts on Pessoa’s life and work. His translations include Pessoa's The Book of Disquiet; Fernando Pessoa and Co.: Selected Poems, which won the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation (1999); Camões; Carlos Drummond de Andrade; Sophia de Mello Breyner and many living poets. Zenith is the recipient of Portugal's Pessoa Prize in 2012. His book Pessoa: A Biography (2021), which has been translated into Portuguese and other languages, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize (2022) and named one of the best books of the year by The New York Times; The New Statesman and other publications.
