In October, poetry days return to Casa Fernando Pessoa for the seventh edition of the Lisbon Revisited literary festival.

At this year’s edition of the Lisbon Revisited festival, we will be welcoming four poets making their debut in Portugal: Anna Terék, a Hungarian poet and playwright whose work has been translated into several languages and has won a number of awards.

From Palestine, we welcome Dalia Taha, also a poet and playwright, novelist and lecturer at Birzeit University, and Marwan Makhoul, a poet, writer and playwright, whose work has been translated into more than twenty languages.

There will be previously unpublished translations of the poems prepared especially for the festival.

Speaking Portuguese, but from Brazil, we welcome Ricardo Domeneck, a poet, short-story writer, essayist and visual artist who, in 2023, won two of Brazil’s most prestigious literary prizes: the Jabuti and the Alphonsus de Guimarães.

One of his short works, Os dias públicos, is currently being adapted for the cinema.

The Portuguese poets taking part in this seventh edition of Lisbon Revisited are Inês Dias – who is also a lecturer and translator of writers such as Sylvia Plath, Virginia Woolf and Louise Glück; Manuel de Freitas, poet, editor, essayist and translator; Pedro Eiras, a lecturer in Portuguese Literature at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and the author of a vast body of literary work, ranging from poetry to theatre and essays, which has been translated and staged internationally; and, finally, Raquel Nobre Guerra, a poet and essayist, whose work has won the Portuguese Pen Club Prize and the CGD/Culturgest New Writers’ Prizes.

Over the course of three days, we will have the opportunity to hear from contemporary poets from a variety of backgrounds, listen to their readings and join in discussions about the processes, influences and issues that shape each poet’s writing.

The festival will also feature a concert by Selma Uamusse, a singer whose artistic career has been characterised by the interplay of cultures and musical styles. Her performance expands the boundaries of poetry, demonstrating how words can come to life through the voice and music.

The Lisbon Revisited poetry festival has been organised by Casa Fernando Pessoa since 2018 and has established itself as a meeting place for poetry from around the world.
